Student attendance and absenteeism rates (Middle and High School)

Measurable Outcome: By the end of the 2023-24 school year, we will reduce our school’s chronic absenteeism rate to below 15% (from 15.34% total - 11.6% in MS and 16.9% in HS) as measured by our school’s chronic absenteeism data (students who are absent 10% or more school days out of the year).

Strategy 1

Create a school culture of engagement and belonging for students and families. Every staff, student, and family will feel safe and connected to the school community.

Strategy 2

Strengthen school team practices to monitor attendance data and determine need for intervention and additional support.

Strategy 3

Implement required Tier 1 SEL and PBIS practices using time protected by the master schedule and lesson plan expectations.

 

Successful completion of Algebra 1 by 8th grade (Middle School)

Measurable Outcome: By June 2024, the percentage of G7 and G8 students who score Pass Advanced on their SOL will increase by 5% (from 12.9% to 17.9% for G7 students taking Math 7 or Math 8 SOL) as measured by a score of 500 or better on the end of course math SOL.

Strategy 1

Increase teacher implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.

Strategy 2

Increase students’ self-efficacy around the ability to be successful in mathematics.

Strategy 3

Use conversation structures to increase academic talk between students.

 

Growth and performance on state/national/international assessments in reading (Middle School)

Measurable Outcome: By June 2024, the percentage of 7th and 8th grade students who did not pass yet demonstrated growth on the Reading SOL/VAAP will increase by 8% from 32% (33/103) to 40% as measured by comparing the current year SOL/VAAP score to the previous year's unadjusted score.

Strategy 1

Utilize small groups and intervention to increase opportunities for students who need more practice to master standards.

Strategy 2

Develop oral academic language skills with frequent opportunities for students to talk about their reading and writing.

 

Growth and performance in coursework (High School)

Measurable Outcome: By June 2024, the percentage of G9-12 students who earned a final mark of a C- or higher will increase by 2% from 83% to 85% (SY22-23 n=2088/2504 students) as measured by final marks. 

By June 2024, the percentage of G9-12 students who meet grade level benchmarks on the Math Inventory and Reading Inventory will increase by 8% from 22% to 30% (SY22-23 n=194/877 students) as measured by a RI and MI score of Proficient or Advanced.

Evidence of Progression Towards or Successful Completion of Advanced Coursework (High School)

Measurable Outcome: By June 2024, the percentage of English Learners succeeding in honors courses will increase by 7%  from 19% to 26% (SY22-23 n=16/85 students) as measured using Final Marks and receiving a C- or better in at least one honors course during the school year.

By June 2024,  the percentage of students receiving special education services succeeding in honors courses will increase by 8% by 22% to 30% (SY22-23 n=59/271 students) as measured using Final Marks and receiving a C- or better in at least one honors course during the school year.

Strategy 1

Increase opportunities for student reflection, goal-setting, and feedback that supports growth around content and ATL skills.

Strategy 2

Improve student engagement through consistent rigorous and relevant learning experiences.

Strategy 3

Monitor student data and use data to determine need for intervention and additional support.
