Robinson Employee Award Winners for 2018-19
The FCPS Employee Awards Program was created to align with the Caring Culture Goal of the Strategic Plan to recognize and celebrate employee success. The Outstanding Employee Awards recognizes outstanding employees at the school pyramid, region, and district levels. The Robinson Employee Awards Committee solicited nominations from faculty, staff, students, and the community in November. The committee then went through the nominations and selected winners in five categories to move on to the pyramid level. The Outstanding Employee Awards for Robinson Secondary School are:
Outstanding Operational Employee, School-Based: Maria Mukai
Maria works as the administrative assistant on Student Services in the Middle School. Jamee Lyons, MS Director of Studer Services, says “Mrs. Mukai is an amazing asset to our department and school. She provides a professional yet warm environment for everyone she encounters, which allows families, students, and staff to feel welcomed and comfortable in the Student Services Department.”
Outstanding Leader, School-Based: Jenna Jablonski
Jenna Jablonski is a Student Services Counselor in the High School. Her colleague in Student Services, Jim Carter, writes “Ms. Jablonski is the "go-to" resource depended upon by many to answer questions and coordinate discussions of policy issues as a team. Her leadership is not forced nor bestowed by title; she has earned the respect, appreciation and attentive ears of her colleagues.”
Outstanding Teacher: Kevin Crenshaw
Kevin Crenshaw is a teacher in the Special Education Department in Robinson. “Because of Kevin’s passion and hard-work, the Robinson community is able to participate in events that have an immense and lasting impact that break down social barriers as well as strengthen our school community, “ write Associate Principal Tracey Phillips. Kevin was also instrumental in Robinson becoming a Special Olympics National Banner Unified Champion School. Kevin Crenshaw was also named the Robinson Pyramid Secondary School Teacher of the Year.
Outstanding New Teacher: Binh Tran
Binh is in his third year teaching History in the High School. “Binh Tran is a teacher who energizes other teachers to reconsider their approach. He singlehandedly revamped our school's approach to the World History curriculum. As a result, the teachers now buy into the project based learning philosophy, and the students are more interested and engaged in the learning that is taking place, : write his colleague Wendy Vu.
Binh was also named the Outstanding New Secondary School Teacher for the Robinson Pyramid and is currently being reviewed for the Region 4 New Teacher of the Year. Good Luck Binh!!
Outstanding Hourly Employee, School-Based: Ellen Terrill
Ellen Terrill is the finance office assistant who maintains all of the data required by FCPS regarding the Marching Band. She is in charge of all of the accounting and logistics for the Band Department including, summer band camp, Tiny Tots concert, the VMEA District Assessments, the field trip to Disney World and is an intermediary between Finance and the Music Department.
We are extremely proud that Ellen Terrill was selected as the Outstanding Hourly Employee, School-Based for all of Region 4! Ellen will now compete at the District-wide level and has been invited to attend the FCPS Honors Gala in June.
