Robinson's Academic Quiz Bowl had a Fantastic Year!

Over Memorial Day Weekend, Robinson’s Scholastic Bowl team competed in the National Academic Quiz Tournaments’ High School National Championship in Atlanta, GA. The tournament featured 352 elite high school quiz bowl teams from private schools, public schools, and homeschools across the country, all of whom qualified to participate based on their performance in various invitational tournaments throughout the year.

This year Robinson was able to enter two teams who had each qualified separately: the “A” team of Jacob A., Mason C., Joshua L., and Will T., and the “B” team of Ryan B., Megan S., Laura T., and Max W.

Congratulations to both teams for qualifying and for their outstanding performance throughout the year, and especially to our “A” team, who finished #20 out of 352 with a 9 – 5 record. This is an outstanding result!

FYI, the top 32 teams earned trophies.  Other schools from Fairfax County placed as well; Thomas Jefferson HS Sci./Tech’s team “A” finished 4th in the tournament, and their “B” team tied us at #20; McLean HS finished #32; Langley finished #77.

The road to Nationals was filled with success.  Some excerpts are:

Winning the Virginia Commonwealth University Season Finale invitational tournament with an impressive 11-0 record!

Team Captain, Jacob, was the 2nd highest individual scorer at VCU's Season Finale tournament.

You can watch an episode from "It's Academic" below where Robinson beat Eleanor Roosevelt and Gaonzaga by very wide margins.

They also won the 2018 Occoquan Regional Championship Tournament and the second consecutive VHSL Class 6A State Championship!

Way to go Rams!
