girls-lax-robinson-and-ukInterview with Robinson Girls Varsity Lacrosse Captain, Abbie Glaser about the St. Helen St. Katharine team trip.

  1. What was it like to host the players from England?

“They were really cool. They were all really nice and funny. It was a great opportunity that I think everyone would want to do again.”

  1. Was their style of play any different since they were from another country?

“As the girls told me, lacrosse is not a dominant sport in the UK. They do have a lot of rule changes, for example, they don’t play with goggles.”

  1. Was Robinson the only school to play the St. Helen St. Katharine team?

“In Virginia, yes. We were the first stop on their American adventure. They finished off their trip in New York after they stopped and played other teams from Maryland and Pennsylvania.”

  1. Who came up with the idea of this trip and who organized it all?

“Coach Case was contacted by the SH&SK coach, which started the idea of hosting. Many Robinson parents stepped up and pulled all the details together to make their stay possible.”

  1. What did the players think was the most different and cool thing about the U.S.?

“They were in awe of American culture as a whole. Particularly, while they were at Robinson, they couldn’t get over the size of our school or all the decorations, ‘branding’ as they called it.

  1. What are the main differences between Robinson and St. Helen St. Katharine?

“St. Helen St. Katharine is an all-girl school. Also, it is private, requires the students to ‘test-in’ and has a tuition fee. Lastly, it is much smaller than Robinson. The school consists of only 700 students total and consists of students ages 9-18.”
