speech-and-debate-winnerThe speech and debate team has diligently been finding pieces to perform, doing research, writing their own speeches/cases, and honing in on their craft/skills for this years competitions.

This past Saturday was the speech team’s first competition. We had 3 brave souls ready to compete in the WACFL Speech 1 tournament against schools from VA, MD, and DC. There are a total of 7 areas in which students can compete and this go around 1 student elected to do extemporaneous, while the other 2 did impromptu.

Please join me and the speech and debate team in congratulating 9th grader Hovsep S. who placed 4th place in impromptu. This weekend he competed against 46 other students.

The high school speech and debate team meets every Thursday after school until late busses in E218/E218A. The middle school speech only team meets on Monday’s after school in E218A, these students need to sign-up during lunch with Mrs. Aunon indicating that is the activity they will be doing after school that day. We do not turn anyone away from joining our team and yes, they can still partake in other activities, as they are not required to compete at all tournaments.  Please encourage your student to join us.
